50 year association with World Bank will grow from strength to strength - President

The Sri Lankan Government is having a very good relationship with the World Bank. The Bank has never forced their way to implement any proposal adverse to the country, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said.

High drama in batticaloa prison

The internecine clashes between the LTTE Vanni leadership and the Karuna faction came to a head yesterday with two Karuna loyalists gunned down inside the Batticaloa prison, police said yesterday. The main victim Kanapathipillai Mahendran alias Satchi Master was acting as a spokesman for Karuna now estranged from the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.

In the news item posted on its web site dated Monday July 12, 2004, under the headline 'Colombo denies aiding Tiger rebel', the BBC has allegedly deliberately distorted facts relating to an inter view the Thamil Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) had broadcast on Saturday July 10, 2004.
