IPM awards ceremony by Anjana Samarasinghe The awards ceremony of the Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was held on Tuesday at the BMICH. Over 950 students who successfully completed the National Diploma in Human Resource Management Certificate Course and Foundation Course received their certificates. Claudia Coerjaerts, Director of the International Labour Organisation in her keynote address said, "The art of management is not an innate gift that you can pull out of your pocket once you get into the job. It is a skill with a multitude of competencies." "In Sri Lanka as in other countries it is high time that we change the expectations of workers and of managers that prevail at the workplace. "Workers need to change the way they participate and the way they express their needs. Managers need to change their outlook on Human Resources," she said. Bandula Rathnayake, Director of (IPM) said "that there was substantial improvement of the student base of the IPM which represented a 22% increase in all study courses." |
