Techno 2004 to promote supplier, user interaction

By Irangika Range

"Techno 2004," the technological, industrial and trade fair organised by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) will be held at the BMICH from October 15 to 17. The technology-focused exhibition will be held in concurrence with the 19th Annual sessions of the IESL.

Chairman of the Organising committee-2004, K.D. Abeysiriwardena said techno will promote the supplier and user interaction. "Producers and agents would display their technological solutions to customers at this event.

"The exhibition would be a good opening for large, medium and specially small-time local manufacturers to seek business partners to reach out to the local and international markets. This also provides an opportunity to customers to seek information of the latest technological developments," he said.

"Awards for the best display, best local products, best demonstration, best engineering service and the main IESL award for the best local products would be given.

The special feature of the event is that we will exhibit best school students' products from those who won at the Junior Inventors of the Year (JIY) competition. The competition was opened only to schoolchildren and this will be a good opportunity to showcase their skills," he said.

He said the exhibition would comprise 180 stalls and around 75,000 visitors are expected during the three days.

Local products and services such as agricultural and plantation engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, automobile industry, construction industry and information technology products and services, household items, office equipment and scientific items will be displayed at the event.
