BOI participates in 'Outsource World' in UK
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) in collaboration with the ICT Agency, EDB and the Private Sector participated in "Outsource World", an ICT related outsource event that covers four main sectors such as Call Centre Solution, Business Process Outsource, Human Resources and Information Technology at "Earl's Court" in London recently. This follows a joint decision taken by BOI, ICT Agency and EDB to promote Sri Lanka as the preferred destination, for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO Operations). All these stakeholders formed a Sub Committee to explore possibilities to participate in the Outsource world event in London. The main theme was to brand Sri Lanka as the most preferred location for BPO Operations. The main objective of participating in this event was to attract BPO Operators to re-locate in Sri Lanka. Adrian Schuler, Director - Western Provident Association (WPA) spoke in doing business in Sri Lanka during the country presentation. He said the principal reasons for selecting Sri Lanka to set up their operations were: High volume of potential English Literature recruits; well-developed infrastructure including telecom; advantageous time zone; fits well with the existing outsourcing operations; outstanding support from the High Commission in London and BOI in Colombo; Direct flights from UK and attractive for UK based training/support staff. Dr. U. Vidanapathirana, Secretary to the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Promotion and Reeza Zarook of ICT Agency, also spoke. Nipul De Silva Senior Manager (Promotion) participated. |
