| UNP created downfall of economy - JVP It is humorous to hear that the United People's Freedom Alliance Government is silently watching the sinking economy, an allegation by UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who initiated the downfall of this country's economy, said JVP General Secretary Tylvin Silva addressing an election rally at Makandura, yesterday. He was addressing the election rally at Makandura, Matara to canvass votes for the JVP candidates contesting the Matara district at the forthcoming Provincial Council elections. The UNP's 'Regain Sri Lanka' programme was a farce to subjugate Sri Lankan economy to imperialist powers and the much boasted 4.5 billion dollar aid programme was intended to sell piece meal profit-making Government ventures to the private sector, he said. He urged the people not to be fooled by the ruse of dragging the country back to colonial status. |
