AMCHAM elects Board of Directors for 2004

The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AMCHAM) held its 12th Annual General Meeting recently to elect its Board of Directors for 2004-2005.

Following his election, President Kishore Rao addressed the General Assembly on the challenges for the coming year. He thanked the General Assembly for appointing him to serve as President and looks forward to the challenges and the great responsibility that the position holds. The outgoing Board has left a legacy - a working document and a healthy balance sheet for the Chamber going forward. Rao is delighted with the team that he has to work with.

The companies which the Board represents are 3M, Liz Claiborne, Energizer, Caltex, Celltel, Mast, Grant Maccan, Widac, Hirdarmani, Deutsche Bank, hSenid and the Favourite Group.

AMCHAM founded in 1992 has a membership which includes more than 285 US and Sri Lankan companies engaged in promoting trade and investment between the two countries. AMCHAM is the leading forum for networking and the sharing of ideas among US and Sri Lankan business leaders and investors. AMCHAM assists members in keeping abreast of issues that effect their organisations, and seeks to represent the memberships' collective business concerns.

AMCHAM is associated with the US Chamber of Commerce in washington DC which is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organisations of every size, sector and region.

AMCHAM is also a member of the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC), which represents the interests of more than 6,000 business in 22 Asia Pacific countries.

The AMCHAM Board of Directors for 2004-2005 consists of Kishore Rao, President; Ms. Claire Snowdon, Vice President; Anil Gadi, Treasurer; Prakash Mirchandani, Secretary; Kishu Gomes, President Emeritus; Dumindra Ratnayake, Director; Ashroff Omar, Director; Mrs. Neela Marikkar, Director; Primal Wijayanayake, Director; Nikhil Hirdaramani, Director; Stefan Mahrdt, Director and Dinesh Sappramadu, Director.
