Qatar Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways team up : Daily flights to United States Qatar Airways who were recently awarded five star ratings by skytrax, an accolade enjoyed by two other international Airlines has teamed up with Virgin Atlantic Airways, offering Sri Lankan travellers to the United States and the Carribean, a new dimension in air travel. Speaking after an agreement which concluded in Colombo, Area Manager for Qatar Airways Danny Schepers said "this would result in a further enhancement of the relationship between two innovative and international Airlines". We are currently international partners and passengers bound to the United States, could now avail themselves of various benefits as a result of this alliance, he said. Schepers outlined the benefits which include a superior product, absolutely affordable and competitive pricing, the ability for frequent flyers to accumulate miles on both Airlines as well as the convenience and advantage of being able to enjoy a day flight or a night flight for travel out of Colombo via London to the United States. "Today therefore we market a brilliant product together with Virgin Atlantic Airways namely to, New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, Chicago. What's more, travel to Barbados or Antigua in the Caribbean now becomes more convenient, thanks to the partnership". Ms. Lilanthi Fernando from Virgin Atlantic Airways said "we are happy to be a part of this relationship which will entice local travellers to fly to the United States using Qatar Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways services". Executive Director GSA for Qatar Airways, Ravi De Silva said "this was another alliance of two highly branded, dynamic and an awarded winning airlines. The service which could be expected will be five-star on Qatar Airways and typically unique on Virgin Atlantic Airways". A further value addition which could be expected from Qatar Airways would be the telephone check-in system which has been introduced in Sri Lanka for travellers who will be embarking on long haul Trans Atlantic flights. All Virgin Atlantic Airways and Qatar Airways passengers using this facility can now check-in at Bandaranaike International Airport 90 minutes for Economy Class and 60 minutes for Business Class or First Class, before departure. |
