Emirates SkyCargo declared Air Cargo Carrier of the Year

Emirates SkyCargo has won the Air Cargo Carrier of the Year award at the IFW (International Freighting Weekly) Awards held in London.

A judging panel drawn from several global cargo companies chose Emirates SkyCargo from a shortlist of international air cargo carriers.

Emirates SkyCargo continues its rapid expansion worldwide. It already has launched seven new routes, with more in the offing in the short term, and increased its Boeing 747 freighter fleet to five.

Emirates' Senior Vice President Cargo Ram Menen, who received the award said "Emirates SkyCargo is absolutely delighted to win this award, which is highly respected in the industry.

Although 2003 was a challenging year for the global cargo industry, we were able to expand capacity and product offering, presenting our customers with a range of choices to suit their requirements."

The judging panel, commenting on the award to Emirates SkyCargo, said: "The company impressed us with its openness in publishing its performance figures, which show consistent high service levels.

In a difficult year that saw many carriers, particularly those serving the Far and Middle-East, cutting capacity during SARS and the Iraq war, Emirates maintained services, brought in additional capacity through freighters and continues to significantly expand its cargo network."

Emirates SkyCargo now serves a global network of 76 destinations in 54 countries, including 21 destinations with its five freighter aircraft. Since January, it has introduced services to Lagos and Accra in West Africa; Budapest, Glasgow and Vienna in Europe; Shanghai and New York. Christchurch, New Zealand, slated for launch on July 1 will be its eighth new route this year.

Emirates SkyCargo's efforts have been recognised throughout the industry. Air Cargo News voted Emirates the Cargo Airline of the Year in 1995, 1999, 2000 and 2001, Best Cargo Airline to the Middle East for the last 16 consecutive years and the Best Cargo Airline to the Indian subcontinent for the last six consecutive years.

Emirates SkyCargo's Priority Service assures on-time delivery throughout the world, while the extensive trucking and off-line partner networks ensure comprehensive coverage where customers need it most. SkyChain, the one-stop web shop with many value-added features, enables customers to obtain information as well as transact business online.
