LTTE sea movement today and tomorrow

by Ranil Wijayapala

The much awaited LTTE sea movement from Mullaitivu to Ilankanthai will take place today and tomorrow as agreed by the two parties, Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission Deputy Chief Hagrup Haukland told the Daily News yesterday.

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Navy will escort three LTTE boats sans cadres on board from Mullaitivu to Ilankanthai today enabling the LTTE to transport 90 LTTE cadres from Ilankanthai to Mullaitivu the following day, Haukland added.

The Nordic truce monitors will be on board on the Navy vessels to observe the sea movement, Haukland added.

The LTTE had cancelled this sea movement on two previous occasions due to objections by the Sri Lanka Navy.
