People's support needed to amend the Constitution

Hanwella group correspondent

The Western Provincial Council Candidate Sunil Jayamini said that the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will win all the six PC elections and strengthen the present government.

He said this at a discussion held with the UPFA branch organisers of Homagama electorate at Meegoda recently.

It was organised by Homagama PS Member, Janaka Weliwatte.

He said that although the UPFA polled a majority of seven lakhs of votes at the April general election the great victory is not visible in Parliament because of the present Constitution. Therefore the wholehearted support and dedication of every one is required to change it by amending the present Constitution.

Jayamini said it was extremely essential that the governing party should have a majority in Provincial Councils too for the implementation of development programs successfully. We have already won Wayamba. We'll definitely win the forthcoming six PC elections.

Homgama PS Members, Janaka Weliwatta, Ajith Mataraarachchi and ex-PS member Gamini Abayasiri Perera also spoke.
