by Chula Bandara Kulasekera and Walter Dayaratne Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake has told the Samurdhi officials that the Freedom Alliance government has decided to make all Samurdhi officials permanent in their post within six months and give them distress loans of Rs. 50,000 and housing loans of Rs. 300,000 to help them carry forward the "Rata Perata" project with dedication and enthusiasm. Addressing the Samurdhi officials at a meeting held at the Youth Centre in Anuradhapura, the Deputy Minister said that the government will also provide them motor bicycles to carry out their numerous duties. He also told them like in the case of Gramaseva Niladharies, they were also entitled to payment for covering the work of another officer and told them that they should now move fast in working towards making the lives of others happy and useful to the development of the country. "You are assured of promotion on the merits of your work and qualifications you gather while performing your duties. You are given the responsibility to help people stand on their own feet and assist them raise their standard of living. You should be determined to pull all your resources together and make this country a better place to live in unity and harmony and make this country and its people a prosperous nation", he said. North Central Province former Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake, former Provincial Minister of Culture Gamage Weerasena and former Deputy Chairman of the NCP Premasiri Hettiarachchi also spoke. |
