Security review for vital institutions

Security at vital national institutions will be reviewed periodically to ensure a high standard of security at all times, the Government said yesterday. Among the vital institutions coming under this security plan are the Ceylon Electricity Board, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Ratmalana and Katunayake airports, Colombo Port, the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Defence Secretary Cyril Herath told the Daily News.

Kadirgamar on official visit to Russia

Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar has left for Moscow on an official visit at the invitation of Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergey Lavroc. Lavrov is a career diplomat whose first posting was in Sri Lanka in 1972 where he learnt Sinhala.
