Singapore Premier to visit Lanka Singapore's Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong will pay an official visit to Sri Lanka at the end of this month on the invitation of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. The Singapore Prime Minister's program in Sri Lanka will include official talks with the President and meetings with Prime Minister Mahinda Rjapakse and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe. 1,000 more buses Colombo, Tuesday (Lankapuvath) Transport Minister Felix Perera says 500 commuter buses will be imported this year under the Indian aid scheme while another 500 will be repaired. These buses will be used for passenger transport services, especially in rural areas. The Minister told Lankapuvath that a streamlined program is under way to fulfil passenger needs in rural areas. School bus services will be restarted soon to provide schoolchildren with a better service. A large number of buses are not functioning due to lack of spare parts and maintenance. These buses will be repaired. The workshop at Werahera will be renovated and maintenance work restarted soon. Four heads of mission present credentials Three new foreign heads of mission and the head of delegation of the European Commission presented their letters of credence to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga last Friday at the President's House. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka Lim Jae-hong, High Commissioner of Nigeria to Sri Lanka Abubakar Garba Abdullahi, Ambassador of uruguay to Sri Enrique Anchordoqui to Sri Lanka and Ambassador and the head of the delegation of the European Commission Francisco Da Camara presented their credentials to the President. |
