The joy within An exhibition of paintings organised by the Shyamala School of Arts will be held at the Lionel Wendt Gallery today. The exhibition titled "The Joy Within" will showcase creative work by 45 art students. The theme that encouraged "The Joy Within", according to the school's founder Shyamala Pinto Jayawardena is a reflection of the joy art students have in expressing themselves in the true aesthetic spirit. The exhibition will also feature an array of the pieces by young, fresh talents of Shadhia Jamaldeen, Melissa Kodituwakku, Tamara Fernando, Shohan Jayasinghe and special guest artist and Shyamala Art School past pupil, Shaanea Mendis. Mendis was happy to showcase her work alongside these talented young artists after having seen their work. She describes the work as vibrant, joyful, exciting, highly creative and visually stunning with each piece exhibiting the character of its creator. The Shyamala School of Art is located at 137/6, Kalalgoda Road, Talawathugoda, Pannipitiya. It has been praised by satisfied parents and students alike as a place for children to explore their creativity while exploring their own artistic potential. It is also a place to gain confidence for those interested in pursuing study in arts and very importantly, a kick start for those adamant to gain a foothold into art programmes. - JH **** Back **** |
