Mirror Mirror ... on the Wall An exhibition of stain glass effect mirrors by Nanditha Gamage at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery will be held on June 19 and 20 from 10 am to 7 pm. Also exhibited are some of her oil and water colour paintings. Nanditha Gamage did her primary, secondary and university education in New Delhi. While at school she tried her hand at painting and won the silver medal for the inter school art competition, North India region. Soon after graduating from Delhi University Nanditha returned to Sri Lanka and joined the Lanka Oberoi Sales and Marketing Dept. and worked there for nine years. She left the hotel industry after getting married and she has two children. As they are now schooling she is pursuing her hobby seriously.
Her watercolour range of Arun Lilies was on sale at The Arena Lifestyle Store last year. She also does fabric painting on T-shirts, Table cloth and cushion covers. These are available at "Atuwa" and at the boutique of the Lighthouse Hotel and Spa. She took part in the past three 'Kala Pola' where her exhibits were very well received. This led to "Mirror Mirror ... on the wall" her first solo exhibition. Here she concentrates mainly on stain glass effect mirrors which is a unique creation of hers. She will also display some of her oil and watercolours at the Lionel Wendt. Nanditha's hallmark is the use of bright colours. Her works make any wall light up with life.
