Anchor lap for Pushpakumara KUALA LUMPUR, Monday Silver medallist in the boys 400 metres event Manoj Pushpakumara is expected to do the Anchor lap for Sri Lanka in the 4 X 400 metres boys relay final at the 11th Asian Junior Track and Field Athletic meet at the Park Playgrounds in Ipoh, Malaysia today. With Pushpakumara striking form Sri Lanka have a good chance of winning only their second medal of the meet which is organised by the Asian Athletic Association. Sri Lanka's chances have further increased with Saudi Arabia's star athlete Alsali Mohamed pulling out of the event due to a leg injury and with the host nation Malaysia not participating in this event. The Sri Lankan contingent for this event will include Pubudu Sampath, Saman Chandrasiri, Pasinadi Rubasinghe and J. Banneheka. A total of over 90 athletes from 36 countries including China, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia and Japan are vying for honours in different events with Sri Lanka competing in the under 16 and under 20 events. |
