Outdoor advertising sets up Assn. An Outdoor Advertising Association Lanka (OAAL) was launched in Colombo recently. The Board of Management comprises veterans in the industry headed by Nelu Fernando.
Their objectives are to build the trade to a new high to support the marketing fraternity with value added benefits. OAAL was formed to safeguard the interests of member companies and protect their rights and interests by presenting quality and reliability of the members of the association to prospective advertisers. "While strengthening the industry, image and focusing our presence, thereby delivering stability to the outdoor advertising industry," President, OAAL Nelu Fenando said. OAAL will operate as an independent body. They have plans to hold an exhibition. The association will also inter-relate with the relevant state institutions so as to streamline in obtaining instant approvals and maximum participation at village level and generate employment opportunities. They also plan to have committees comprising eligible individuals from the three fraternities, TV and Radio Electronic, press-print and outdoor which would ensure responsible revelations of presentations, thus safeguarding human and consumer rights and our rich traditional cultural heritage. Today most agencies in Sri Lanka which use non-traditional methods of advertising are referred to as outdoor advertising agencies, which amounts to about 98% of the industry with an exception to a very few agencies who actually have the expertise and the right infrastructure to deliver a total Blow-the-line solution. Outdoor advertising is still the cheapest and effective media to reach one's target by means of Hoardings, Shop Front Signages, Banners, Posters, Tin Plates and Wall Paintings where the desired impact is immediate and measurable. Outdoor advertising provides an excellent opportunity to reach consumers as a last reminder before purchasing," he added. |
