News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Ministers' Media Forum to counter baseless allegations against Government The Integrated Ministers' Media Forum has implemented a programme to protect the Freedom Alliance Government from campaigns by various segments to discredit the Government. The IMMF has decided to act on five principles to forge ahead its objectives. They are: (1) Fortify the Freedom Alliance Government within the people's victory. (2) Promulgate all developmental and social service activities of the Ministries through the media. (3) Handle the task of correcting before the public eye, all unethical and inaccurate charges levelled against the Government either obliviously or openly. (4) Implementation of a formula to distribute among Ministries the bulk of social service activities undertaken by the Freedom Alliance Government. (5) Maintenance of continuous productive rapport among all religious leaders to ensure the safeguarding of rights of all ethnic groups as a multi religious nation. The Forum elected the following office-bearers to implement these objectives: President - Rohan Weliwita - Prime Minister's Media Secretary. Secretary - Hemasiri Dheeraratne - Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry. Treasurer - Nimal Weeratunga - Environment Ministry. Joint Secretaries - Nimal Dayaratne of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry and Lalith Rohana of Urban Development and Water Supply Ministry. Convening Secretary - Lester Rupasinghe of Housing and Construction Ministry and Hemasiri Jayalath, Western Province Governor's Media Secretary. Vice President - Prasanna Adhikari - Agriculture, Livestock and Lands Development Ministry. Legal Advisor - Saman Weeraman - Education Ministry. Welfare Organiser - Wijesekera Walisundera - Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Ministry. Executive Committee - Nandana Imbulgoda, Finance Ministry, Sampath Gunaratne, Community Development and Infrastructure Ministry, Wijekoon of Women's Welfare and Social Welfare Ministry, Namal Premawardena, G. U. Peiris, Nishantha Wimalachandra and Amila Ranmandala. |
