A reasonable food 'fare' and a 'complimentary' ambience by Prasad Abu Bakr The poolside terrace of the Colombo Plaza has undergone a tremendous change and transformed into a hive of activity in recent times as a result of the opening up of the TAO restaurant which specializes in `fusion food of the unusual' together with the `Breeze Bar' which is set more towards the far end, from where it is possible to enter the premises from the Duplication Road end as well. With a large sitting area consisting of comfortable seating arrangements, makes the bar a place that anybody would like to sit around and relax with one's favourite drink, surrounded by a variety of foliage, overlooking the pool which is an added attraction to its plush environment. Wide, tiled passage with overhead roofing which enables guests to move-in from the Breeze Bar to the restaurant area even during a heavy shower is an excellent option not to get under the slightest drizzle, not to mention the ponds consisting of a variety of ornamental fish that line the sides of the passage, making the short walk to the TAO restaurant a pleasant one. The restaurant itself with its large `Show Kitchen' at the far end is a showpiece by itself indeed. The ambience is the biggest plus point and there is no charge in the bill for it, which makes TAO cheaper in fare in comparison to many other star properties in the city. The food that is served are mostly starters, main courses and desserts with one soup on offer. Prices are kept low making it exceptional in comparison again. Framed by large Banyan trees and overhead individual wooden roofs providing shelter to each dining set-up, brightly lit; sets the mood for a pleasant dining experience. The view of the 'Breeze Bar' from the restaurant is splendid. The present management of the Colombo Plaza should be complimented for making such good use of its poolside terrace towards a bigger advantage of boosting their future plans. |
