Audi Quattro Cup Golf tourney on Sunday

The Royal Colombo Golf Club will be the venue for what promises to be an attractive golf competition for the Audi Quattro Cup which is to be held in association with Senok Automobiles (Pvt) Limited on Sunday the 13th of June 2004.

Incidentally Senok Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd., is the vehicle making arm and a fully owned subsidiary of Senok Trade Combine Ltd., which markets one of Germany's highly valued motor cars - Audi.

So it is this, that has led Senok to make a presentation of an Audi A4 1.8 Turbo vehicle, to the winner of the hole-in-one at this tournament.

That's not all, amidst yet other prizes, there will be for the winning teams of two players return airline tickets (business class) to participate in the Audi Quattro Cup world finals, scheduled to take place at Algarve Coast in Southern Portugal in October.

These observations and comments were made by the captain of the RCGC, Kumar Boralessa, at a media briefing held at the club on Monday evening.

It was gathered from the member of the tournament committee Arshad Ahamad. That the tournament is open to those over 18 years of age, having a current RCGC Handicap, who will play off their lowest handicap. Entries will close with the secretary RCGC on Thursday June 10 evening.

Only 200 entries will be accommodated on a first come first serve basis. Matches will take place according to the Greensome method, according to Stableford over 18 holes. In this Greensome Stableford play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground.

After the first shot partners select the ball which they wish to score, and play the ball alternatively to complete the hole. The reckoning in stableford competitions, is made by points awarded in relation to a fixed score (net par) at each hole.

The competition will commence at 6.45 a.m. at the RCGC on Sunday, June 13 and the prizes will be awarded on the same day at 7.30 p.m.

The prizes on offer will be

a) Overall winners trophy and participation at the Quattro cup finals at the Algarve Coast in Southern Portugal.

b) Runner up trophy

c) Best stableford score (6 hidden holes)

d) Closest to the pin (9th hole)

e) Closest to the pin (13th hole)

f) Longest drive (8th hole)

g) Longest drive (15th hole)

h) Best stableford score on all par 3

i) An Audi A4 1.8 Turbo Multitronic will be given to the winner of hole-in-one
