Team Caltex stays ahead in the First Leg

Team Caltex has fared extremely well in the first leg of the Motor Racing calendar 2004 to stay ahead of the rest as the undisputed leaders. In the main races they participated, which included Katukurunda, Mahagasthota, Radella and Fox Hill, Caltex Team has been able to record 34 podium positions out of which 16 have been first places.

The drivers who impressed for Caltex during the season are Rizvi Farook with four victories and Aravinda Premadasa and Dammika Peiris with three wins each while Nishan Wasalathanthri have recorded two first places. Farook has made seven podium, visits while Dammika Peiris and Nishan Wasalathanthri had visited the podium on five occasions. Aravinda Premadasa stole the limelight at Fox Hill Championship beating teammate and defending champion Nalin D. Perera who posed a good challenge.

In the two-wheeler races, at close contest was seen between the teammates from Caltex, as Maduranga Caldera and Damien Gunathilake stole the limelight. Caldera won two races while coming second once, while Gunathilake had four podium positions with two wins a second and a third place.

Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited, who revived the racing with a lucrative sponsorship assured their commitment as their Team Caltex took to the track this season. Team Caltex was able to make their sponsors proud leading the way from the front in most of the races to show their dedication.

Caltex, who firmly believes in promoting the standard of Motor Sports in Sri Lanka, has shown their willingness to continue this sponsorship this year. Caltex embarked on a two-pronged strategy to enhance Motor sports by firstly introducing a structured sponsorship program for racing drivers & riders.
