Attending prize distributions at Dhaham Pasala a waste of time - JHU MP Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera

Kuliyapitiya group correspondent

Jathika Hela Urumaya Leader Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera MP says he has more important work to attend, than attending dhahampasalas for distribution of prizes. "It is a waste of time".

He made this observation addressing a "Bodhu Maha Samulu" held at Sri Pushparama Purana Viharaya at Pugalla. The Ven. Thera was the chief guest at the Annual Prize distribution of Sri Gemunu Dhamma school.

In his address Ven. Medhananda Thera said that the Bhikkhus of this country decided to go to Parliament as there was a threat to religion, country and nation, culture and civilization.

During the times of the Sinhalese Kings they ruled the country taking the advice from the Maha Sangha. So they were able to bring about prosperity to the country. There were three main conventions for the kings to follow then.

They were the restoration of peace, bringing about prosperity to the country and the improvement of the Buddha Sasana. Maha Sangha advised the kings on these subjects. So the country was free from turmoils.
