Unfortunately the Government was changed and the UNF Government ignored and neglected totally the programme drawn up drafted by the PA Government. So we have to start from the very beginning, said the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Ratnasiri Wickramanayake at a press conference held at the office of the Public Trustee recently. This press conference was held to brief the action plan drawn up by the Ministry to be completed by 2005. The proposals made by the Buddhist Commission report will be implemented soon. Bill will be tabled in Parliament to prohibit the illegal ways to converting Buddhists to any other religion. As to felicitate the volunteer organisation and their members the Government wishes to present uniforms for Dhamma school teachers. A free bus pass would be issued to the Dhamma School teachers in their localities. It is proposed to add a considerable number of marks in admitting applicants to the universities. The government will undertake the responsibility in providing furniture, books and other needs for a Dhamma Schools. A felicitation ceremony will be held annually for Dhamma School teachers to reward them. |
