Nienhuis Asia nets Rs. 147 million profit on exports in 2003

Nienhuis Asia (Pvt) Ltd., a Dutch owned manufacturer of Montessori educational equipment, opened a new office building at a cost of Rs. 8 million at their factory premises in Panadura.

The new building equipped with state-of-the-art technology is expected to increase production capacity.

Nienhuis Asia (Pvt) Ltd., Plant Manager, Herman Reuvers said the company is targeting to produce world-class products providing considerable job opportunities in the country.

We also invested Rs. 15 million to enhance our operations in Sri Lanka and we were able to earn a profit of Rs. 147 million from exports in 2003", Reuvers said.

He said these products are exported to USA, Netherlands and Korea. Since the establishment of the local subsidiary company in 1995, the company is producing and marketing high quality wooden educational material for general education in the age group 3-12 years.

The Nienhuis group of companies from the Netherlands are authorised manufacturers of the AMI method of Montessori educational material was founded in 1929.
