Heart patient seeks help

A.R. Anura Sisira Kumara (18) of Kandekumbura, Boltumbe, Pinnawala in Balangoda is suffering form an acute heart disease.

Dr. Anura Kapuruge Consultant Cardithoracic Surgeon, Sri Jayawardhanapura General Hospital has recommended an urgent surgery for A.V.R. to save his life. The cost of the surgery has been estimated at Rs. 275,000.

He says he and his parents are not in a position to foot this bill due to their present economic plight as they have no employment. His father A.R. Amarasinghe is also suffering from schizophrenia and getting out-door treatment daily.

He has sought assistance from the Presidenet's Fund to meet part of the cost. He requests financial assistnace from generous public to meet the balance cost and save his life.

All contirbutions should be remitted to Account No. 02-2364101-7 at the Hatton National Bank (H.N.B.) Balangoda branch.

Madusha needs help

W.M.A. Madusha (13 years) of Colombo Road, Katunayake is suffering from an acute heart ailment and Dr. P.A. Gunasekera of Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital has recommended early heart surgery to save his life. The surgery would cost around Rs. 300,000 and the President's Fund has granted Rs. 175,000 towards the cost.

Madusha's parents say they are unable to find the balance money and request philanthropists and public to make financial contributions possible to save the child's life. All contributions should be remitted to Account No. 1001 8311 4209 at the National Savings Bank, Supra Grade Branch, Negombo.

Minister declares Dengue prevention week

Health Care Nutrition and Uva Wellassa Development Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has declared a Dengue prevention week aimed at speedy action to combat the alarming rise in the number of Dengue victims.

The Dengue epidemic which had spread with the onset of the monsoonal rains have so far claimed 19 lives with another 3,104 cases reported.

Parallel to the Dengue Prevention week a thorough clean up operation will be launched in homes, building's and office complexes to keep the environment clean while a special "cleanliness day" will be earmarked by all Government Departments.
