CID investigations point to : Kumari Cooray's statement voluntary

The CID investigating the Rauff Hakeem - Kumari Cooray scandal has been able to gather a large volume of information pertaining to the oblivious relationship between the two.

Rupavahini in its news bulletin last night stated, the CID investigations were a sequel to a complaint by Minister Mangala Samaraweera to find out whether the alleged confession by Kumari Cooray was made voluntarily or under pressure.

The CID questioned Muslim Congress Batticaloa District MP Ameer Ali and Ampara District MP Faisal Cassim who said that they met the woman in question near Rauff Hakeem's residence on April 13 and she revealed to them the facts pertaining to this affaire.

According to the CID investigations their version tallies with the information disclosed by MPs Najeeb Abdul Majeed and Rizard Badurdeen. CID investigations point to the fact that the statement made by this woman was made voluntarily. According to reports available the CID have searched the two houses at Ja-ela and Mt. Lavinia where the couple were alleged to have met.

Meanwhile, the report of the investigating team appointed by the Supreme Council of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress is reported to be ready to be handed over to the Supreme Council shortly.
