| SLMC committee to unravel Rauff - Kumari love tangle The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) High Command yesterday appointed a five member committee to probe the alleged Rauff Hakeem love scandal. SLMC Secretary General M.T. Hassan Ali, MP in a press release said: "The SLMC is shocked at the revelations made in the Sunday Leader of May 16, 2004. It is very clear that vested interests have stooped to such low levels so as to falsely and maliciously attack the character of its Leader in an attempt to destroy the Party. The SLMC High Command also strongly condemns the action of the State media responding to the disclosures made by the Sunday Leader by telecasting a video footage obtained through duress. As regards audio and video evidence disclosing details relating to the said conspiracy, the persons involved in it and the manner in which the Party Leader has maliciously been targeted for vilification, the High Command totally condemns the attempt to tarnish the image of the Party Leader and expressed its fullest confidence in its Leader Rauff Hakeem. The High Command also appointed a five-member committee to review all material evidence made available to the Party and to recommend to the High Command action the party should take in this regard. |
