Mangala calls for CID probe

The Rauff Hakeem - Kumari Cooray scandal took a new turn yesterday when Minister of Ports and Aviation Mangala Samaraweera made a complaint to the CID calling for an investigation into an article published in the Sunday Leader of May 16th and an interview with Kumari Cooray telecast by MTV, on Monday morning.

Mr. Samaraweera has also called on the CID to ascertain whether Kumari Cooray's interview was made under duress.

Ports and Aviation Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Deputy Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Sripathy Sooriyarachchi yesterday totally rejected the allegations levelled against them by the Sunday Leader of conspiring against Rauff Hakeem to obtain his vote in parliament to elect the UPFA nominee as Speaker.
