Balapatabendi, new SriLankan Chairman Former Secretary to the President Kusumsiri Balapatabendi PC has been appointed as the Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines. A.L.A.M. Hisbullah has been appointed as the Chairman of the Airport and Aviation Services and Air Vice Marshal P.H. Mendis as the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Services Company by the government. Concrete slab crashes killing girl (13) injuring two others A 13-year-old girl died and two other girls were injured and admitted to the Peradeniya hospital when the concrete slab of the toilet in their house in Haloluwa Katugastota, crashed with them on Sunday evening when they climbed to pick fruits from a 'Nelli' tree. The dead victim was Kotuwegedara Nadee Sameera Chandrasiri, an Year 7 student of Rahula Maha Vidyalaya, Katugastota. The injured girls are 5 and 7 years of age. Student knocked down A student of Sri Chadrajothi MV, Yakkla S. A. Nibodhi Subasinghe succumbed to her injuries at the National Hospital, Colombo when she was knocked down by a van near the school last Thursday. This was revealed at the inquest held into her death by the additional City Coroner M.A. Rumie. A verdict of accidental death was returned by the Additional City Coroner. He also instructed the police to produce the van and its driver before the Gampaha Chief Magistrate. |
