AMJ Industries breaks into India with paper cans AMJ Industries and Services Ltd sent and initial consignment of 25,000 paper cans to India recently. These will be used to pack tea for export from India. A company spokesman said they were very happy about the breakthrough. To enter the Indian market was very competitive and difficult. Price was not the criterion for the buyer from India but he wanted to buy a quality product that would compete with the best of packs in the American and European Supermarkets. Hitherto AMJ has supplied local tea companies for exports to a large number of countries. There are regular monthly orders from the quality conscious Japanese markets for tea and Henna. Company Managing Director Morgan Fernando said that the company in its short history has won 12 Lanka Star Awards for Packaging Excellence. It has also won National Productivity Awards. The Company uses recycled paper and it is a preferred pack in all countries that are concerned with the environment. He is hopeful that more local industrialists will switch to this type of pack as it is 'Environmental Friendly', more economical than the tin can and much less harmful than the ubiquitous plastic pack. |
