India and Sri Lanka furious over Pakistan's pull out from Tri-Nation series The two women's cricket boeses of India and Sri Lanka told the Daily News that they were furious with Pakistan for pulling out of the series on the eve of the tour. With lot of publicity and preparation given to the Singer Tri-Nation Series, host Sri Lanka was put to a lot of inconvenience. Shubangi Lulkarni said 'Pakistan should be taken to task. Sri Lanka and India will bring this to the notice of the International Women's Cricket Council at their next Executive meeting to take action against them. Because of this act both sponsors of India and Sri Lanka were let down and the live telecast of the series pulled out. Kulkarni further said: 'Though the Indians won all the matches in the series, they were concerned as Sri Lanka in 6th world ranking was able to restrict them to hundreds except for one match in which they scored over two hundred. This worries us. The scores are far too low and not the World Cup stuff. We need to replace few of the players. Singer and WCASL had done a magnificent job if not for the pull out by Pakistan. Gwen Herat said as for Pakistan, Kulkarni and I will be very positive about what we have to report to the IWCC. These are international matches and monitored by the IWCC scorer and must not be taken lightly. The repercussions are heavy and it take a toll on the game. As for Sri Lanka's performance, the senior players played like novices and were irresponsible. They failed to bat and threw their wickets away like a bunch of schoolgirls. Not even in one match did they offer resistance to the Indians who had a very weak fielding side. By their pathetic performance in a series that was to enhance the game in the Asian region, they took us back a few years. Now we have to start from scratch. It will be definitely new blood for the World Cup. I do not see anything left in the seniors except just two players, may be. We are addressing the issue right away' said a determine Herat. However, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be meeting up in India to discuss the final voting procedure of the IWCC before the merger with ICC. |
