Ratnayake had close links with all communities - Prime Minister by Sarath Manula, Wickrama, Anuradhapura special correspondent Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse said former Speaker K. B. Ratnayake had a close connection among all the communities in the country. The Prime Minister was making a funeral oration at the public stadium, Anuradhapura on Monday (3). He further said that Mr. Ratnayake's fluency in three languages of Mr. Ratnayake was a cause for gain to everyone and he worked and behaved as a father to the young members in parliament. The Prime Minister recalled the great services rendered by the former leader on the occasion when he got the responsibility to rehabilitate the youths involved in the struggle in 1971, and as the sports minister. Ganesh (of Hartley College OBU) addressed the gathering and expressed their sympathy. Mr. Ratnayake's son-in-law, former minister H. B. Semasinghe made the vote of thanks. |
