Kandy SC thrash Old Zahirians 141-0 Defending champions Kandy Sports Club opened the Caltex Inter-Club premier league season with a runaway 141 points to nil win over Old Zahirians in their first round match played at Nittawela yesterday. The winners ran down as many as 23 tries of which 13 were converted. The hosts led 60-0 at the short whistle of referee Anil Jayasinghe. The architects of the smashing win by Kandy SC were flanker Dulip Selvam, winger Pradeep Liyanage, centre Prasad Chathuranga and flanker Sean Wijesinghe who scored three tries each. CR beat Air Force 50-7 CR and FC routed Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club by 50 points to 7 in their Caltex inter-club 'A' division league rugby tournament match played at Ratmalana yesterday. The winners collected their points from ten tries having led 25 nil at half time. The Airmen managed to score only a solitary goal. |
