CPC tenure ends

The tenure of the Central Provincial Council controlled by the UNP, expired yesterday.

With three electorates Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya under its jurisdiction, the Central Provincial Council had 58 elected Councillors.

The UNP along with the CWC and Kandurata Janata Peramuna had an edge over the PA by five councillors while there was only one JVP councillor.

Since its inception, four Chief Ministers have held portfolios.
