Death of Ariya Bulegoda

Southern Provincial Council People's Alliance member and former SLFP co-Secretary Ariya Bulegoda passed away at his daughter's residence in Pagoda, Nugegoda yesterday.

One of the oldest members of the SLFP, Bulegoda was the founder of the Sri Lanka Progressive Front. He was a close associate and a trusted political partner of late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. He was among those who strived to bring the JVP into the democratic main stream.

Bulegoda entered active politics in 1962 and was one of the most senior members in the Provincial council at the time of his demise. His body is lying at No.7, 7th lane, Pagoda, Nugegoda. The funeral will be held at General Cemetery Kanatta tomorrow at 4.00 p.m.
