Ideal for Sri Lanka: Brazilian aviation giant unveils new passenger aircraft New Delhi, (PTI) On the heels of striking a major deal to sell five executive jets to Indian Air Force for VVIP travel, Brazilian aviation major Embraer yesterday unveiled its four new passenger aircraft for the local market. The four new aircraft, with passenger carrying capacity varying from 70 to 108, had more personal space and were "ideal for group networks and Intra-region flights to neighbouring countries," the company Vice President J Bruce Peddle told reporters on board an Embraer 170 aircraft. He said the company had invested over a billion US dollars on the production of these new range of aircraft which would provide an alternative to travelling public between the wide-bodied Boeings and Airbus aircraft. Peddle said the Embraer had already established a market niche in US, South America as well as China and Australia and was confident that the major Indian airlines like Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Air Sahara and other regional airlines would opt for the aircraft. "It is ideal to fly intra-region, like to Sri Lanka, Teheran, Gulf, Bangladesh, Kabul, Pakistan and even to southern China as all the aircraft have operating ranges over 2,000 km," a top company official said. |
