TAFE conducts range of certificate and diploma courses TAFE (Technical & Further Education) International, Western Australia, is a network of Government owned colleges, which gives students a wide range of study areas to choose from. Each year, TAFE International, Western Australia enrolls over 1,50,000 students, including more than 1,500 international students from Europe, Africa, Asia and America, at their 44 campuses in WA. TAFE certificates and diplomas recognised by companies and professional institutions around the world can also be used to gain advanced standing at Universities. This institution offers quality training, highly experienced teachers and modern, Internet-enabled facilities. TAFE courses teach students practical skills and prepare them for employment in the 'real world' where they apply their skills. These practical training sessions are continuously updated as per industry requirements to ensure 'job ready' graduates at the end of every course. Courses for Marine Engineering, Ship Captains, Deck Officers, Fishing and Aquaculture are delivered at the specialised WA Maritime Training Centre (WAMTC) located in Fremantle, the main port in Western Australia. The WA Maritime Training Centre is the number one destination for Indian mariners wishing to upgrade their qualifications in Australia. The college is the Australian leader in providing Certificate of Competency training. The courses most popular among Indian students are the Second Mate, Chief Mate, Master and Marine Engineering programs. The college runs these programs with a hand on, practical approach so the students each receive the necessary training and simulator work to ensure they are well prepared for their oral examinations. The WA Maritime Training Centre offers a wide range of upgradation and competency courses. It offers: Expert training in all aspects of Maritime Studies including all Certificate of Competency training, Structured Shipboard Training Program (SSTP) for Deck cadets, modern simulators & electronic equipment, distinguished and well experienced faculty, modern training vessels, approval by Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), quality assurance of college operations and programs. The costs of higher education and studying maritime courses in Western Australia are much lower compared with those incurred in the United Kingdom and the United States and also lower compared to studying in Sydney or Melbourne in Australia. Moreover, students are permitted to work 20 hours per week thereby giving them a chance to cover their living expenses by working part time. WAMTC can also offer an AMSA approved SSTP, which will allow deck cadets to receive up to 12 months remission of sea service. In other words, deck cadets who sign up for our SSTP program and complete 24 months sea time, will be eligible for the 2nd Mates course in Australia. |
