Rider Cyclo Cross 2004 : All set for the big day at N E The National Mountain Biking Association with the producers of Rider Bikes has organised a Cyclo Cross in a dirt track at the Race Course in Nuwara 'Eliya on April 25. The track designed with five obstacles on mostly a flat and slight terrains, the NMBA has obtained the services of the veteran track designer Peter Bluck to finalising the track for the event. This year's event will be more challenging than last year and the participation will amount to over 600 according to the organisers. Rider Alloy MTB bikes will be awarded to winners of the sports category. Special incentives are on offer to school riders of the Nuwara Eliya and Kandy districts to make this sport popular in the hill country. The organisers call upon the master-in-charge of sport and the DSOs of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya to submit entry forms from school participants to boost the sport among rural schools. Organisers will not levy an entry fee from student riders from Nuwara Eliya. The entry coupon will appear in all dailies of the Lake House newspapers. There will be special prizes for winners of Nuwara Eliya district with the courtesy Chandana Karunaratne, the Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council. The Mayor is lending big hand for the Cyclo Cross in order to bring it on par with motor cross events in Nuwara Eliya. |
