CWC to decide on its political strategy today

Apr. 20, Colombo: The Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) will hold a special meeting in Colombo tomorrow to map out its future political strategy.

A meeting to be held at the party headquarters will be chaired by CWC leader Arumugam Thondaman, MP.

Almost all the Congress's activists have been invited to be present at this crucial meeting. A senior member of the party said their discussions would focus on their future political strategy and their conduct in Parliament. They will also decide at this meeting on the candidate they would support for Speaker.

The CWC contested the last general election under the UNP and has eight members in Parliament. Mr. Thondaman explained at a recent news conference in Colombo that even though they contested the election under the UNP, they would take decisions as an independent group. (Colombo Page)
