US expert to address business leaders on Managerial Leadership and Globalisation

At a time when Sri Lanka is embracing globalisation with its many challenges, 'leadership for success in public and private sector enterprises', has become a very important issue, according to Dr. Harry G. Harris.

Dr. Harris, the President of Global Management Associates; a California based consulting group, and a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Davis, has been invited by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to address business leaders today at 4.30 p.m. in the Ground Floor Auditorium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Harris who also serves as International Trade Advisor to the Mayor of Fresno, California and the President of the Harry G. Harris Foundation, a charitable trust, will focus on the need to understand global issues and their impact on business and society by political and business leaders.

He served in the Office of the Secretary of Defence in Washington, D.C. as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defence for International Security Affairs and was the Protocol Officer to the Secretary of Defence.

He has been a faculty member and Course Director in the Department of political science at the United States Air Force Academy. He also served as Acting Director for Contract Compliance in the Office of the Secretary of Defence. His responsibilities included nationwide strategic planning and management of major programs in American industries.

In 1975, Dr. Harris was appointed Director of Management in the Office of the Secretary of Defence. His major responsibilities included strategic planning, policy development and congressional relations. Dr. Harris then served at The White House as a senior professional staff member. He was with the National Alliance of Business in Washington, D.C. from 1977 to 1979 as Vice President.
