SLCBCC hails UPFA's election victory The Sri Lanka-China Business Co-operation Council (SLCBCC) affiliated to the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka has praised the election victory of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) as a step in the right direction. It has despatched a message of congratulations and best wishes to the newly appointed Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapakse, a press release signed by its President, Nihal Mallikaaratchi and Secretary General Ranjit C. Dissanayake of the Sri Lanka-China Business Co-Operation Council said. The release said that political history will be re-written in 'Gold' in the annals of the local politics, with the 'Sandhanaya' in the driving seat. They request the newly elected Parliamentarians on both sides to uphold the finest traditions of that August Assembly and set an example to the rest of the country first. They are reminded of the varied and many faceted promises and pledges made during the election campaign. The people of this country who have been battered and devastated by a prolonged unwarranted terror outlash for over two decades, and who have been the innocent victims of political rhetoric at least now hope that 'Sun will shine' for all alike. The SLCBCC calls upon the Sandhanaya leaders not to forget their election pledges as reminded by the newly elected Prime Minister and to work individually and collectively to achieve their cherished goals. The SLCBCC wishes the newly elected Parliamentarians of both sides good luck and strength to work together for the future development of the country, the release said. |
