German sports teams to play here next month

Tennis, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and hockey teams from Germany will tour Sri Lanka next month to play against Sri Lankan teams.

These matches will be played at the outdoor and indoor stadium of Aquarius Sports Resort, Marawila which will give the Sri Lankan teams the much needed exposure against foreign teams and help to improve their standard.

The German sportsmen and sportswomen will also get an opportunity to train at the Fitness Training Centre of the hotel under the instructions of fitness trainer Asoka Wattarantenne during their tour.

The Sri Lankan tour for the German sports team has been organised by Christian Schmahl, a 26-year-old student from Bremen, Germany under the Asian German Sports Exchange Programme to foster friendship and understanding between the German and Sri Lankan sportsmen and women.
