CJ inquiring into alleged Mahapola irregularities

The Statements of Accounts relating to three bank accounts of the Mahapola Trust Fund together with the proposed budget for the current year and reports of allocation of funds for a number of Mahapola projects have been obtained by Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva.

This was in response to a directive by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to the Chief Justice as Chairman of the Mahapola Trust Fund, to inquire into the alleged irregularities involving a transfer of Rs. 316,000 million belonging to the Mahapola Trust Fund to a private company.
