Let us forget bitter past - Wimal

JVP Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa in a media release yesterday said that he has received information that many UNP supporters employed in the State sector are being harassed and intimidated following the Freedom Alliance victory, a process contrary to the policy of the Freedom Alliance.

It said that this situation may be a reaction to the victimisation of political opponents immediately after the UNP victory in December 2001.

Yet it is better to be aware that unlike the UNP, the United People's Freedom Alliance is pledged to serve the down trodden people of all parties including the UNP and that the Freedom Alliance will not resort to beastly acts of violence against its opponents. "Let us forget the bitter experiences of the past.

May all those who supported the Freedom Alliance victory rally round it and enlist the support of others to shoulder the noble responsibility of resuscitating the country without creating political confrontations", urged Weerawansa in his media release.
