Working class movement should rally behind Govt. - O. A. Ramiah

Patana Group Corr.

The twin mandate of the people for peace and bread are inseparable. The people are fed up with the policies of militarism and globalisation. The mistakes of the UNP Government should be a lesson to the new government, as its main stay of power is based on the support of exploited workers and toiling masses, said O. A. Ramiah, President of the Red Flag Union (CPWU) in a statement greeting the UPFA victory.

He said though the UNP led government proceeded with peace process, it failed to understand the miseries of the ordinary people. It totally failed to fight against poverty and subordinated the interests of the masses to the interests of international financial institutions and imperialist governments.

The mandate of the people of the South and the North against war and poverty have reflected the aspirations of the general masses.

Since 1946, the toiling masses have given resounding victories to the leftists, especially to the JVP now.

The working class movement should rally behind the government, as the rightwing forces should attempt to snatch the victory of the people on the formation of the new government, stated Ramiah.
