Freedom Alliance has 2/3 majority - Weerawansa

The United People's Freedom Alliance, having won 108 Electoral Divisions in 14 Districts commands more than a 2/3rd majority on Electoral Division level, stated JVP Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa, addressing a welcome rally held at Heenatikumbura, Kaduwela, yesterday, a JVP media release stated yesterday.

Weerawansa who scored the highest number of preferential votes out of the Colombo District Group at the April 2 General Election

further stated that the people of the South who secured an excellent victory for the Freedom Alliance have trusted the people friendly programme presented by the Freedom Alliance while rejecting outright Ranil Wickremesinghe's divisive policy to divide the motherland and sell it piecemeal.

The UNP carried out false propaganda to frighten the people that they can expect a withdrawal of foreign investments and rice barriers under the Freedom Alliance Government, but, the people unswayed by the falsehood voted for a Freedom Alliance victory. We are dedicated to fulfil our pledges. We shall form a stable Government in a few days to implement our programmes. It is left to the people to cooperate and protect our programmes, stated Wimal Weerawansa.

Freedom Alliance Colombo District MP elects Sunil Handunnetti and Lakshman Nipunaarachchi also spoke.
