Two unique achievements uring UNF time Rohitha Bogollagama

Kuliyapitiya group correspondent

The UNF can claim of two unique achievements due to its performance during the first two years of its rule. They are the restoration of long expected peace and reconstruction of the collapsed economy, former Minister of Industries and Kurunegala district UNF candidate Rohitha Bogollagama said addressing a political rally held in Kuliyapitiya Town Hall.

Bogollagama said we were elected to power in 2001 for six years, but we had only two years to work. If a proper assessment was made abut our performances it is clear that we had done a greater work in that two years that what PA did in 7 years.

When we were in the Opposition, our leader went round the world studying the different development strategies adopted by different countries and prepared a development program that would suit the world trend We could achieve such a remarkable economic growth within a short period of two years since we implemented that programme. During the period we shifted industries to the rural areas, introduced express highways, provided infrastructural facilities, if mentioned a few. With the implementation of that economic development program we were able to lay a solid foundation for the rapid economic growth.

In case UNF was given a mandate we would proceed with the unfinished program which had given the productive results during a short period of two years. People are well aware that there will be no alternative to our development program.

I see no meaning in speaking on the policy statement and programme of PA/JVP Alliance. JVP know nothing about the development strategies. They can criticise but have no creative or constructive ability.

With the instructions of the PM I have prepared a proper development plan for Wayamba. If I were elected with highest majority I will implement that program for the benefit of the people in Wayamba. Kuliyapitiya will be given a place in world map under that plan.
