All its prominent members including the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga are honouring the people of all communities without any bias. The Freedom Alliance is asking for a mandate from the people not to earn money, but to serve the people honestly and efficiently, said the National Leader of National United Alliance (NUA) and former MP Ferial Ashraff at a public meeting held recently at Maruthamunai. She also said that not only the UNF is planned to bring about permanent peace in the country, but also a UPFA is also of the opinion to do the same thing rather better than the UNF. Therefore, the peace loving people will do the best to ensure peace and democratic rule in the country by casting their votes to the UPFA as we all aware that UPFA is a party which is going to form the next new government. We should realise at this hour of need that if people elected a UNP government again it was sure that our country would surely divide into four. So, it is the bounden duty of every person to give a wise judgement at the Upcoming general election in selecting a powerful government under the able leadership of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. I went to Parliament last time through the majority votes of Sinhalese people. Though I was elected by Sinhalese, I raised my voice in Parliament for Muslims as my late beloved husband Ashraff did in his political life. Sheriffdeen said in his presidential address that we the Muslims should unitedly work hard for the victory of the UPFA at the forthcoming general election in order to safeguard our own lives and properties from being destroyed and damaged by the enemies of Muslims. Several others also spoke. |
