A group of Japanese investors have offered to give their fullest support to a Freedom Alliance Government, expressed the desire to invest in the power and energy field in Sri Lanka and to provide technological cooperation under such a Government. A ten-member delegation of businessmen and investors led by a prestigious company owner in Japan Mrs. Yabuta Keiko yesterday morning held discussions at the President's House, with a delegation comprising Lakshman Kadirgamar, the Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Senior Presidential Advisor Anura Bandaranaike, Mano Tittawella, JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe, Wimal Weerawansa and Sunil Hadunneththi, states a Presidential Secretariat press release. The Japanese delegation stated that they were confident that in Sri Lanka under a future Alliance Government private business ventures and investments would receive fullest support and protection. Apart from the field of power and energy the delegation also expressed their desire to provide technological assistance and investments to an Alliance Government in the future in respect of projects in the health and education sectors in which they are engaged. JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe thanking the Japanese delegation for offering to make investments in Sri Lanka under a future Sri Lanka Freedom Party - Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Government stated that it was the policy of his Party to encourage and provide opportunities for private enterprises and investments under a mixed economic programme. |
