New appointment at Maersk Logistics Amal Rodrigo has been appointed as the Country Manager of Maersk Logistics - Sri Lanka effective April 14, 2004. At present Rodrigo functions as the General Manager - Supply Chain Management of the company. He joined the company in 1994 as a Management Trainee. Since then he has progressed rapidly in the company as Executive, Senior Executive, Assistant Manager, Manager and General Manager during a time span of 10 years. Rodrigo holds the membership of The Institute of Logistics and Transportation - UK. Rodrigo replaces Chinthaka Jayaweera as General Manager, Global Business Audit at the A. P. Moller - Maersk Group. Jayaweera who has been with the Sri Lanka organisation for more than seven years will now be based at the Group's head office in Copenhagen, Denmark. Maersk Logistics is a recognised leader in the international logistics market, providing customised solutions for integrated supply chain management, warehousing and distribution, and sea and airfreight transport. Maersk Logistics employs over 4,500 people in over 200 offices in more than 70 countries. The company is part of the A. P. Moller - Maersk Group, which has more than 60,000 employees in more than 100 countries. Besides shipping and logistics, the A. P. Moller - Maersk Group is engaged in the exploration and production of oil and gas, shipbuilding, aviation, industry, supermarkets and IT services. |
